Employees angry with Mamata's announcement to increase DA by only 3 percent

In the West Bengal budget on Wednesday, it was announced to increase DA by 3 percent from March 1, after hearing that the state government employees are angry. It's because central organizations are demanding DA at the rate of the central government. Even after the announcement, the gap of 32 percent will remain as compared to the Centre.

Trinamool Government Employees Federation leader Manoj Chakraborty said, “The state has announced 3 percent DA, but government employees were expected to get DA at the central rate." On the other hand, on the demand of DA, the organization of government employees are protesting in Kolkata. The union of employees is on hunger strike. The employees demonstrated a protest march on Wednesday demanding DA arrears.

In his speech after the announcement of the DA hike by the Minister of State for Finance, the Chief Minister said, “We have done our best with limited resources.” But a section of government employees does not want to think about government resources. A section of government employees has been protesting in Kolkata for several days demanding an increase in DA. On the other hand, Vijayshankar Singh, leader of the Left Organization Coordination Committee told the media, "We want DA at the central rate. Now 35 percent is due. It will soon be 39 percent. The anger among government employees has increased since the announcement of just 3 per cent hike.” The pro-BJP employees union also believes that a strike should be called.
